Forestkeeper First Saturday at Lake Mayer

December 6th, 2008

10:00 a.m.

Meet at the southwest corner of the park, going left into parking lot off main entrance at Montgomery Crossroads.  We'll be doing a tree assessment seminar where volunteers can help evaluate the health & vitality of trees we have planted at Lake Mayer in the past.

Future dates are always on the 1st Saturday of Each Month:

January 4, 2009  •  February 1 • March 1  •  April 5  •  May 3  •  June 7

No plans for July or August

This is a new monthly volunteer workday to help with our ongoing tree planting and maintenance, assessment, and mulching programs, and to also help with other current projects such as removing non-native invasive plant species from Bacon Park Forest.

All events are guaranteed to be fun, interesting and a great way to get outdoors while supporting the environment.  Community volunteer service hours are always available.  Call us at 233-TREE or email us for more details on each month's location and meeting time.

Bacon Park Forest Discovery Walks

Sundays at 1:00 p.m.

December 14  •  January 11  •  February 22

March 29  •  April 19  •  May 17  •  June 21

Join STF as we walk some of the newly designated natural walking trails in Bacon Park Forest.  This past summer, Trail Dynamics, LLC of North Carolina contracted with the City of Savannah to create a plan for installing walking trails in the forest.  The Savannah Tree Foundation was a part of the action... come check it out!

Wear long sleeves, pants, and sturdy shoes; bug spray is a good idea.   Walks meet in northern corner of Bacon Park Tennis Courts, located off Skidaway Road just south of Bonna Bella Road.
